My views on B12 consumption: In Dr Kelley's book it explains, like I wrote earlier, about the mucus (this is also called Candida.. Mucus, fungus, yeast, mold, plaque - all are different words for Candida) and how the mucus lines the vili in our small intestine. Have you ever heard people say they didn't know what the point in taking vitamins is and that it doesn't help anything? Well, to some extent they are right. The mucus/candida lines not only our small intestine but it's a fungus that can go wherever the blood goes. So if we have Candida - we are not absorbing B12. Doesn't matter how many bottles we buy! Candida is the #1 thing I am studying now. There is a book called "The Missing Diagnosis" and another called "The Yeast Connection: A Medical Breakthrough" which you can read. So while I feel that B12 is vital for people with CMT, I also must bring up this issue of absorption. The good news is, we can manage and eliminate the Candida. I have done this and I literally feel like a different person. I wouldn't have the mental clarity to be writing this now had I not gotten my Candida under control!
Also, I'd like to say that if you do decide to research this...you can get your information from a conservative doctor who may be loosing money by people deciding to use less anti-biotics... or losing patients because they will start to feel great... or because he/she isn't knowledgeable on the subject, so in response he/she will denounce it....... or you can listen to the person who has the same disease you have. I'm telling you this has helped me. Oh! So back to the B12 - if you don't want to get rid of Candida...well, B12 shots or B12 liquid would be better I think. A little further down the road I'll post some more info on Candida. A diet alone will not get rid of it. Some say it takes 6 months. I did it in about 1/ 1/2. For me to write a short blog post on this is difficult indeed, because it is so, so key. I can share more later. Symptoms of B12 Deficiency and BENEFITS of B12
(Passing on info from literature on natural healing. Some is copied directly and some is paraphrased)
When we aren't receiving the proper supply of B12 what can result is nerve degeneration and other important cell damage. Symptoms that might arise as a result of deficiency are a loss of feeling in fingers and toes or on the spine. Other symptoms may include loss of balance with clumsiness, decreased reflex responses, increased irritability, memory loss, lack of concentration and depression.
The best way to give your body B12 is by taking brewer's yeast, bee pollen, sea vegetables or algae. Equally important is the need to withhold from ingesting alcohol, tobacco, coffee, birth control pills and antibiotics as these substances create an increased need of B12.
Benefits of B12 (Cyanocobalamin)
This form of B12 is what most MD's use. May give you energy, weight loss & higher metabolism, deeper sleep, lowered cholestoral, better MOOD, balanced immune system, mental clarity, anemia and stamina. Helps with shingles, neuropathy and hangovers. Also helpful for fybromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, diabetes and those with migraines. Safe for children. I would consult your local Naturopath for dosage : )
B12 (Methylcobalamin)
This affects brain function. Typically not offered by MD's so you'd have to type Naturopath Doctor + your local area online or look for liquid form in health stores. Offers the same benefits as other B12 and in addition this is very good for anyone with mental struggles. (Depression, stress, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc.)

The proof is in the balls!
So I saw on Bernadette's blog that raw milk was treating her well... so I've been keeping my eye on it. I actually don't drink milk anymore, I use Almond Milk. Especially after I learned that mucus from too much milk and dairy lines our small intestines which prevents us from fully absorbing the healthy minerals and nutrients that come from our food and vitamins. I know that almonds are really good for you. If you're a milk person maybe you should do the raw milk! I have heard really great things about it.. Also I heard it affects everyone differently (some people get gas - some don't and they feel way better from it compared to normal milk.)

Drug Companies Control Medical Education
Believe it or not, most physicians receive very little formal education in nutrition, and also very little in pharmacology, the study of drug actions and effects. Doctors are taught general principles of pharmacology in medical school, but most of their understanding is derived from their hospital training with practicing physicians. How do these practicing physicians learn about pharmacology? From the drug companies, of course. The drug companies sponsor medical journals and educational programs, and there is roughly one drug company sales representative for every 10 doctors in America. Doctors reply on these sales reps for information about drugs, yet less than 5 percent of these sales reps have had formal training in pharmacology.
Detailed analysis has also shown that most physicians do not decide what drug to use on the basis of scientific research or cost ; they base their decision almost entirely on the effectiveness of the drug company's marketing and advertising. In essence, doctors are often bribed or lied to so that they will prescribe certain medications.
Micheal T. Murray, N.D. is widely regarded as one of the world's leading authorities on natural medicine. He has been featured on numerous television shows, including Primtime Live, 20/20, and Dateline NBC.
Do the drug companies spend more on marketing or research?
According to a very detailed analysis by two Canadian researchers, Marc-Andre Gagon and Joel Lexchin, "The Cost of Pushing Pills: A New Estimate of Pharmaceutical Promotion Expenditures in the United States," drug companies spend twice as much money on marketing as on research and development.

info
I thought I'd share with you an excerpt from one of Micheal T. Murray's books I'm reading. This excerpt is from a segment entitled, "Why is there a bias among medical doctors against alternative medicine?"
The simple answer to this important question is that many doctors are simply not educated in the value of nutrition and other natural therapies; in fact, most were told during their education to tell their patients that alternative medicines are worthless. Many doctors are not aware of, or choose to ignore the data on, beneficial natural therapies such as diet, exercise, and dietary supplements, even if the data are overwhelmingly positive. Rather than admit that they don't know, most doctors have a knee-jerk reaction: it can't be true. If they are not up on something, they will be down on it, to protect their own ego. They often suffer from what I call the "tomato effect." This is a reference to the belief, widely held in eighteenth-century North America, that tomatoes were poisonous, even though they were a dietary staple in Europe. It wasn't until 1820, when Robert Gibbon Johnson ate a tomato on the courthouse steps in Salem, Indiana, that the barrier against the "poisonous" tomato was broken in the minds of many Americans.
The attitude of many Physicians toward alternative therapies is quite similar to the tomato effect. For example, diet is a fundamental aspect of health. But when patients ask about diet therapy or a nutritional supplement for a particular condition, even if the nutritional approach has considerable support in the scientific literature and this literature proves its safety and effectiveness, most doctors will caution their patients against taking the natural route or will tell them that it will not help, though it won't hurt either. The truth is that in many cases, the doctor just doesn't know anything about it.
I went to a Government office today to get finger-printed for my sister's daycare. I work there! The woman who finger printed me - - I was there with her in her tiny office... She was sweet, nice, overweight, very unhealthy looking especially in the eyes. Diet Coke was sitting on her desk. Aspartame.
As soon as I saw that, something happened to me. I froze. A couple of things were said but I didn't hear them. "Poison, you're drinking poison!" the voice inside me wanted to just come out and say. I mean poison is poison and I saw her eyes and how unhealthy they looked inside and obesity is one of Aspartame's (found in diet soda) many side effects. So.. here I was feeling deep raw emotional and protective feelings for a woman I hadn't met before.. Oh boy.. 'Just let it go Kelsea, just drop it' I thought. She had one sitting not just on her desk but under her desk there was a whole back supply of them in a box.
I was with my Dad and I knew the reaction from him would have discredited me and perhaps it really was best I managed to contain my mouth. I am an impulsive one though. Wrote on the back of a coffee cup sleeve in pink pen "Look up Aspartame" and set it down by her magazines in her cubicle office. Couldn't help it. I prayed on my way out that she would find it, and it would lead her down the path to truth. My best friend is the one who taught me "The truth shall set you free"
I wonder if she ever found it.
Between Passion and Pain
When I saw the documentary on this incredible being, I was so moved! She's brilliant, thinks outside the box, an artist, a poet, and so so many other things. She spent most of her life in bed, too, because of all her physical ailments. If I can pass on anything in this blog that'll INSPIRE someone, than I am blessed! Normally I am inspired by stories of transformation and of people who have healed themselves, but this is transformation of a different kind. The Life and Times of Frida Kahlo is the name of the wonderful documentary, and it's on Netflix. I saw the movie version too but it was not at all inspiring. (No offense Salma.)
